About Us
SolSolution's innovative, nonprofit business model allows us to:

  1. • Increase the quality of education in schools by providing them with additional financial resources.
  2.
  3. • Generate clean, renewable, carbon-free electricity.
  4.
  5. • Grow to be a self-sustaining, high-impact social venture.

We're taking the proven for-profit solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model and transforming it to make SolSolution a high impact, self sustaining nonprofit.   Instead of distributing profit to individual shareholders, SolSolution transfers these funds back to schools to pay for tangible educational resources.  Schools realize reduced electricity costs and receive additional educational funding from SolSolution, and the environment benefits from the addition of carbon-free, electricity generation.  Our vision is to install 1GW of solar generating capacity by 2020, and shift >$200M to educational budgets in low-income schools.

Many school districts spend anywhere from $1 million to $60 million per year for electricity. We enable a massive shift in the use of these funds. For underprivileged schools with limited educational resources, such a shift in funds can make a world of difference! Imagine your local school creating a new art studio, a science and engineering lab, and hiring additional teachers (or paying the great ones what they're worth!).

The associated reduction of a school's carbon footprint is substantial as well.  Annually, a school spending $500,000 on electricity can offset roughly 2.5 million pounds of carbon dioxide!
