What We Do
SolSolution provides solar energy services and educational funding to America’s underprivileged schools. We accomplish this by affixing solar panels to a school’s roof, selling solar-generated electricity back to schools, and then reinvesting what would normally be considered profits from our business activity into the school’s infrastructure. These investments take the form of general improvements, books, class resources, and other mandatory tools to allow for a proper and adequate education in the 21st century. SolSolution is a California and federal tax-exempt (501(c)(3)) corporation.
We adapt the proven, for-profit, solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model to make SolSolution a high-impact, self-sustaining nonprofit. SolSolution removes the high capital cost of solar PV as a barrier for schools who want to go solar. Under our long-term E-PPA (‘E’ for educational), schools purchase solar electricity from SolSolution, who owns and operates the solar PV system. Instead of distributing the profit to individual shareholders, SolSolution reinvests these funds back into the educational budgets of low-income schools. Our partner schools realize reduced electricity costs and receive additional educational funding, curriculum, and special programs. The environment benefits from the addition of carbon-free electricity generation.
